ABOUT GABRIELA
Gabriela Gottschalk knows the tension between the inner drive for authentic performance art and the demands of the commercial media landscape from many years of personal experience.
She is a trained community performance teacher (Lola Rogge), professional dancer, stage coach and choreographer. She was already passionate about teaching urban dance to young migrants and their classmates at school.
Thrown into the commercial pop and show business as a teenage star, she has always realized a variety of free artistic dance projects.
Since then, it has been her concern to promote and protect artistic freedom and to combine controversies in performance in new ways. In her concepts and choreographies, modernity meets tradition, avant-garde meets classical and playful expression meets complex world views.
Over the past 10 years, the all-round artist has been intensively involved with Berlin's subculture and Hamburg's off-scene, building up a large network of extraordinary artists, performance artists, designers and musicians.
Through her simultaneously challenging, balancing and unifying personality, she succeeds in bringing together creative people from different areas and in this way creating something "special".
She benefits from her own experience as an artist as well as her spontaneity.
The main success factor, however, is her enjoyment of creative work.
Twenty years ago she founded "ChixxClique", an international feminine "dance ensemble" for her own and free productions of dance theater and visual representation through photo series.
She teaches dancers of various genres in order to redefine and present the female form of expression.
Her own style is unmistakable. She brings out the characteristic strengths and special facets of each performer and gives each personality new performance strengths and forms of expression. ChixxClique is a creative collective, an association of strong women between the ages of 20 and 50 from the fields of performing and applied arts and complementary professional fields.
They combine female aesthetics with bold artistic concepts and thus also give the audience the courage to be self-determined and aware of their bodies. Sometimes completely choreographed - sometimes playfully improvised, always supported by video projections, accompanying music and/or opulent costumes and props, the stage is transformed into a theater of experience.
